Resources for Grade 5,
The Wonder of Ancient India

Picture
In The Wonder of Ancient India unit we suggest that you begin the morning lesson with yoga. Depending on your comfort level with yoga, you can lead your child, or find a video that you can follow together. It is wonderful if you can have the room set up with yoga mats, music and incense. Create a peaceful and reverent space, and begin your morning lesson with your morning verse, chants that you are learning and a yoga flow. Practice taking some time for a quiet meditation at the end. Each child will have a different level of ability to enjoy this stillness. Observe how it is for your child and adjust accordingly. Try chanting OM together at the end of the yoga.

This morning yoga and chanting can be anywhere from 10-30 min. Feel out what is right for you and your child. Follow this same routine throughout the unit. You will see benefits and improvements.

Below are some resources for chants and yoga.
