June Field Trips

Are your children getting antsy for summer? Are you?​

June field trips offer children engaging, real-world learning experiences that go beyond the classroom. They foster curiosity, improve social skills, and can even lead to increased academic success. 

Here are some of our favourite, simple field trip ideas to bring joy to the last weeks of the school year.

1. Visit a forest or meadow and build a fort.
2. Visit a local working farm.
3. Paint inspirational signs or rocks and decorate your neighbourhood.
4. Head out on an overnight camping trip and add some challenging skill-building to your child's experience.
5. Anything on the water - kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, swimming, exploring tide pools, water parks, building sandcastles, etc…
6. Visit a local animal wildlife rescue centre.
7. Adventure park with a challenging ropes course.
8. Visit a local museum, aquarium, zoo or science centre.
9. Nature skill building - forage for local food, then make a delicious feast with your harvest. Better yet, invite friends and family to join in the feast.
10. Visit a local Visitor Centre to get inspired by your local area.
11. Go caving.
12. Arrange a behind the scenes tour of a local bakery or chocolate shop.
13. Visit your local fire or police station.
14. Arrange a tour of your local waste management / recycling centre.
15. Create a scavenger hunt around your town.
16. ​Visit a local train station.

What would you add to this list?

After your field trips, be sure to have your child write a brief summary and create a beautiful drawing of something that stood out to them during the outing.
