Curriculum Overview
In the first two units of math this year you have focused on place value and comfort using the four processes. You have worked with vertical addition and subtraction including the work of carrying and borrowing. This unit will continue to strengthen those foundation skills while focusing on the times tables. Each day will be a focus on a new times table as you create a visual representation for each table. The living picture running through each day will come from stories of time and place. Time and place will allow for themes of connectedness and identity to emerge. You will use the seasons to help you look at the rhythm of events that shape the identity of the individual, the family, the community, and the country. With the stories of the seasons in the background, the times tables will reveal their own interconnectedness as your child discovers what tables share factors. Fables will be saved for story time for this unit.
