Curriculum Overview
The Wonder of Time will be an exploration of the rhythms that make up our ‘doing’ through the year, the months, the weeks, the days, and the hours. Your child will begin with the ‘whole’ with a look at the year and the seasons and get down to the seconds as we consider the ‘parts’ of time. Central questions will guide the work of the unit: What are the rhythms that can be seen in nature over time? How do celebrations, festivals, and family traditions hold the pillars of time? What are the names we use to measure time? And finally, you will finish off the unit with the work of measuring the night and day in hours, minutes, and seconds. Your child will learn some basics about fractions with the use of a hand-made analogue clock. They will also use their critical thinking skills for reflections about how we measure the passage of time.
