Curriculum Areas/Learning Outcomes
Language Arts: Concept: Using language in creative and playful ways helps us understand how language works. Connection: You’ll use poetry to bring the parts of speech lessons to your child this month. Poetry offers a playful and fun way to learn about how language is put together.
The Wonder of Grammar will bring the details about sentence structure in a way that is fun and engaging. Poetry and games will be the vehicle for exploration. Your child will have the opportunity to read poetry from a variety of authors about parts of speech as well as create their own verses. A look at how we use language to connect with others and express ourselves will tie in with the purpose of learning how to communicate well. You’ll also finish off the literacy program with the final three phonics rules: the shwa, the ending grid, and the six syllable types. If your family is using the Old Testament as a storyline over this third year, you will finish up these stories this month. Next month, Month 10, we recommend reading a chapter book aloud and offer these links to help you choose in advance:
