Rebecca WatkinAs a child, Rebecca always knew she would be a teacher. As a young woman she received a BA from Simon Fraser University and shortly thereafter attended Rudolf Steiner Centre to receive her teaching credentials. She worked in Waldorf schools both on the mainland of BC, and south Vancouver Island, beginning in 2002. After teaching for many years and parenting young daughters, she returned to school at Vancouver Island University to receive a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
As a founder of Comox Valley Waldorf School, Rebecca worked there for nine years as a Class teacher, Subject teacher and Collective Leadership team member. She worked with a small group of dedicated parents and teachers to bring her dream of Waldorf in the Valley to fruition. Her most recent role at CVWS was that of Principal. Through this role she placed Waldorf curriculum goals and practices within the conversation regarding the transformation of education in BC. Rebecca is a bold innovator, with a passion for policy! Her time as Principal at Comox Valley Waldorf School coincided with the new BC Ministry of Education Curriculum roll out. This progressive and integrated public curriculum combines BC Ministry Learning Outcomes, social emotional intelligence, and First Peoples Principles of Learning. As leader of a partially funded independent school, Rebecca was required to guide and inspire her faculty through the process of integrating BC curriculum with Waldorf education and principles. This process was instrumental in learning how to build clearer communication between the 100 year foundation of Waldorf education and the educational language of today. With this experience as her backdrop, Rebecca is excited to share this knowledge and practice through Daily Wonder. |
Jennifer RossJennifer is a creative, free-spirit who is balanced by a deep sense of responsibility. Jennifer graduated from McGill University with a BA in English and Cultural Studies, studied in Israel and then traveled extensively. During this time her love of poetry, music and dance flourished. With an interest in Eastern and Western philosophies, the yogic path, and finding a meaningful connection to Spirit, she looked for life’s work to incorporate all these elements. She found her calling in Waldorf Education, training at the Rudolf Steiner Centre in Toronto in 2001. Jennifer’s first teaching position was at Alan Howard Waldorf Academy in Toronto, where she carried a class from Grade Two until the end of Grade Five, finishing in 2006 in order to begin her own family.
Jennifer has two beautiful children and with them moved to the Comox Valley to join the Comox Valley Waldorf School when the doors officially opened in 2011. Since that time she has worked as Class teacher, Subject teacher, and has been part of the Collective Leadership team, serving as Faculty Director. Jennifer graduated the first Comox Valley Waldorf School class in 2015-16! She has experience working as a mentor for the Rudolf Steiner Centre teacher training program, and most recently she has been engaged in offering courses through several Waldorf Conferences where she offered her expertise in Biography Work as it relates to personal development. Jennifer is certain that the world is ready for Daily Wonder and is inspired to hear your stories of leading your children to meet the world with purpose. |
