Jennifer Ross

Jennifer is a creative, free spirit who is balanced by a deep sense of responsibility. Jennifer graduated from McGill University with a BA in English and Cultural Studies, studied in Israel and then travelled extensively. During this time, her love of poetry, music and dance flourished. With an interest in Eastern and Western philosophies, the yogic path, and finding a meaningful connection to Spirit, she looked for life’s work to incorporate all these elements. She found her calling in Waldorf Education, training at the Rudolf Steiner Centre in Toronto in 2001. Jennifer’s first teaching position was at Alan Howard Waldorf Academy in Toronto, where she carried a class from Grade Two until the end of Grade Five, finishing in 2006 to begin her own family.

Jennifer has two beautiful children and, with them, moved to the Comox Valley to join the Comox Valley Waldorf School when the doors officially opened in 2011. Over the years, she served as a Class teacher, Subject teacher, and part of the Collective Leadership team as Faculty Director. In addition, she was a mentor for the Rudolf Steiner Centre teacher training program and has offered courses in Biography Work related to personal development.

Jennifer is currently teaching students and supporting learning pods using Daily Wonder curriculum. She continues to share her love of poetry, music, and dance through women’s workshops, spoken word performances, DJing, and facilitating ecstatic dance classes.

Jennifer is certain that the world is ready for Daily Wonder and is inspired to be part of offering this cutting-edge education that is now accessible to all.

"Jennifer came into my daughter's life for her fifth year of elementary school.  What I loved about her as a teacher, is that she had a way of connecting deeply with all of her students. She noticed the small things about my daughter that helped build her confidence. She supported my daughter to communicate more clearly. She inspired her to be more conscious of her role on the earth, and she offered daily spiritual inspiration.  My daughter has some learning challenges, and she brought her to a level that I did not think was possible."

"Jen was my teacher from grades 2-5 (2002-2006), and during that time, she developed and fostered my love of learning. Her holistic, education-focused, Waldorf pedagogy created a learning environment that taught me not only the curriculum but valuable life lessons. Her delivery was never through one medium alone, but rather, she brought in stories, experiential activities, and songs to bring the lessons to life. Since my time as Jen’s student, I have gone on to graduate from the University of Toronto, and I am currently completing a postgraduate certificate in Human Resources Management. I always credit my Waldorf education and Jen for laying an amazing foundation for my academic and professional success."

"I cannot express enough how fortunate we were to have Jennifer as our son's online math tutor. Her expertise, patience, and teaching methods transformed what could have been a daunting experience into an enjoyable learning journey.

Jennifer has a unique ability to convey complex concepts in a simple, relatable manner, and she effortlessly adapted her teaching style to cater to our son's individual needs. This adaptability was key in maintaining his interest and keeping him engaged throughout the lessons. She created a welcoming and non-judgmental atmosphere that made him feel at ease, even when tackling challenging math problems. She never rushed through topics and was always ready to provide thorough explanations, ensuring he grasped each concept before moving on. This approach improved his understanding and boosted his self-confidence in math.

Jennifer is not just a math tutor but a remarkable educator who has the gift of turning a potentially tedious subject into an enjoyable learning adventure. Jennifer has positively impacted our son's educational journey, and we are deeply grateful for her dedication and expertise."
